I have this weird feeling that I was destined to have a daughter; that I was meant to go through certain hardships to learn and to grow from them so that I could pass that wisdom on to her.
I want my daughter to become her best self and to love her life. As a mother, I have to find a place where I can help facilitate her growth but still let her become the person she is destined to be.
I’m sure this letter will change as we both change, but for now, this is what I want to tell her:
Dear daughter,
You are my everything. You are my world and I don’t remember what my life was like without you.
I miss you when you are sleeping and whenever I am away from you.
I love you more than I could ever imagine.
I love holding you tight and I never want to let you go.
But I know one day I will, and I’ll have to let you explore life on your own. I hope that when you do, you remember these things:
You are perfect just the way you are. You don’t need to change to meet other people’s expectations. You are uniquely you and if other people don’t like who you are then that’s their loss. You will find your people. Stay true to yourself.
You are beautiful. The way you smile, the way you laugh, the way you do everything is beautiful. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. Don’t ever hide who you are. Stay confident and let your beauty shine.
You are smart. You can learn and do anything you put your mind to. You have everything you need within you. Stay curious, keep learning and never be afraid to ask for help.
You are ambitious and a go-getter. I know you’re only 9 months old right now, but I can already tell that you know what you want and you’ll do whatever it takes to get it. Plus, you are my daughter after all 😉 Never stop dreaming.
You are strong. You might be scared but that’s ok. Take chances, learn from them and grow. You can do hard things and you can overcome your fears. We will always believe in you and support you. Never stop believing in yourself.
You are loved. During the good and the bad times, know that we will always be here for you. You will always be loved.
I am so lucky and proud to be your mama and I hope that I can always be there for you when you need me most.
