The Value of Online Pilates

Is it worth paying for online pilates classes? Will I get the results I am looking for? I answer all you need to know about online pilates programs!

Online workout classes have been super popular lately for a number of reasons.

From saving money to not having to shower, today I am going to walk you through all of the reasons you should (or shouldn’t) invest in doing Pilates online.

Now let’s dive in!

1. The Cost Savings

This is a no-brainer. It is always going to be cheaper to pay for Pilates classes online than in-person. One month of Pilates on Demand which includes access to unlimited classes costs $24 CAD (or less if you go with a 6-month or annual subscription). One class at a studio will cost you around $20.

2. The Convenience

Working out at home or where you ever you are is way more convenient than having to go to a gym or a class. You don’t have to worry about having someone watch your kids, the travel time, the parking, bringing your workout clothes, etc. It just makes so much sense – especially if you have a young family or live in a rural area.

3. No Class Schedules or Full Classes

Sometimes life just gets in the way and you end up missing or running late for the class you’ve already paid for. Or worse, you realized you can make it to a class and then you go to sign up and it’s already full ๐Ÿ™ With online Pilates, it works around your schedule. And because Pilates on Demand classes are short (between 15-30 minutes) they can easily fit into your busy day.

4. Avoid Intimidation

I know for some people exercising in public can be really intimidating. Working out at home eliminates this fear and can actually improve your self-esteem for when or if you do decide to workout in public.

5. You Can Follow a Plan

Lots of Pilates websites have plans you can follow online (including Pilates on Demand Collections or our Monthly Challenges). These allow you the mental space to not have to worry about which class to do next and are great to keep you motivated and on track!

6. There are Tons of Classes

You will never get bored because new classes are added all the time. At Pilates on Demand, we have a new class coming out each week and we organize the classes by fitness level, duration, body part and dates so you can be sure the class you choose is exactly what you’re looking for.

7. The Instructors Know Their Sh*t

Most paid online Pilates sites have certified instructors teaching so you know you are going to be in safe hands. We pride ourselves in having educated teachers so you can follow along at home as if you were in a class setting.

8. Accountability Groups

I love these groups because it recreates the accountability and friendship you would often find in a class setting but at home. I am so proud of our accountability group that we’ve built through our free and paid challenges and our member forums that are accessible to all members. These women are loving and supportive and it’s just so amazing to be a part of such an awesome group!

9. You Don’t Have to Take a Shower After

Ok this one might seem insignificant, but let me tell you – since having a baby, having a shower is a privilege. I am lucky to get in there before 4pm. Working out from home means you don’t have to shower after if you don’t want to (or just can’t).

10. You Don’t Have To Wash Your Hair

Ok so this is more specific to Pilates, but because it is lower impact you don’t get as sweaty and thus, you don’t need to wash your hair after your workout. Similar to number 9, hair washing for women (at least for me) is something I dread doing and avoid like the plague. So if I can get a good workout in without needing to wash my hair, then I am one happy camper ๐Ÿ™‚

So there you have it! These are just some of the reasons why online Pilates classes might be right for you.

However, if you know you love working out with other people, having the feedback from the instructor or love working out outside the home, then that’s great! In-person classes sound perfect for you. And there is no harm in doing both in-person and online classes if you are able to. In fact, I encourage it! I think they compliment each other well.

I hope this article helped you decide if online Pilates is right for you!

ps. You can try Pilates on Demand for FREE for 7 days when you sign-up for either a monthly, 6-month or annual membership.
